Biography
Don Doering is an expert in non-profit and philanthropic strategies to create change and brings over 20 years of experience in strategy development and execution in the for-profit and non-profit sectors. Don has experience in building cross-sector partnerships, fund-raising, and program design in international development, conservation, social enterprise, sustainable agriculture, and technology development.
Don recently completed five years at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation where he held a variety of roles in helping to start and lead a sixty-five person team in Agricultural Development that committed over $1.7 billion in four years to help poor farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia to improve their own lives. In addition to making and managing about $250 million in grants in soils, root crops, agricultural data and extension, he had responsibilities for group operations, financial planning, evaluation and strategy processes.
Don has held senior positions at Calvert Social Venture Partners, AquaPharm Technologies Corp., The Wharton School of Business, World Resources Institute, Winrock International, and the International Food Policy Research Institute. Don has consulted to Fortune500 companies and major non-profit organizations and received his Ph.D. in Biology from M.I.T. Don lives in North Seattle and stays in shape by chasing after his two small children.
